Another Opening Night Approaches…
So, in a short while I shall head out to the theatre to get myself ready for the opening night of another drama production.
This one has been an absolute blast to work on, and I am enormously humbled that the director specifically asked for me to play the lead male, when convention at the theatre dictates that fair auditions be held for any interested parties. I have worked with most of the cast prior to this in other shows, and so we all gelled well from the offset! There were a few complications and hitches along the way, but we’re finally here - and one of the most encouraging signs is when a performance can still provoke laughter from people who have heard the lines and seen the movements 30 times if not more.
I am, however, rather psyched for when this run of shows finishes. The play itself will be missed (I have a kiss scene - altogether now; “ooooooOOOOOoOoOoOo!!”), but this is my 3rd consecutive production - I started Railway Children in October and when that finished, rehearsals for the following play started the following day. Once that second show reached closing night….I had one day off before beginning rehearsals for this one. So I have been super busy - but while I do not complain about being blessed with opportunities to partake in one of my absolute favourite past-times (Thank You God), in doing so I have sacrificed and neglected other responsibilities and activities I equally love, such as my music and youth ministry at the Church, Home Bible Study group and playing football.
After this show draws to an end, I have an 8 or 9-week rest before I take on another lead role in the final production of the venue’s play season. Another comedy - my favourite!
But in the meantime, while I will indeed miss the play and the cast and even learning lines,
I cannot WAIT to have my Sunday evenings back for the first time since October (6 months folks) and a somewhat less hectic life schedule resume, albeit only until the end of May.
I am blessed beyond measure, but the Lord knows I need a rest for a bit!
Anywho, I need to get off of here -
Wish me luck!
Shaunski out.
