I had a long and interesting conversation over dinner tonight with two ‘frouples’ (friends who are couples) discussing why I do not have a girlfriend.

I’m out bowling with two couples and then we’re going for food.

Being a 5th wheel isn’t so bad!

Two of my friends are getting married today.

I am honoured to have been picked as a groomsman.

They’re both a few years younger than me…

if I’m honest, it’s exciting and unsettling in equal measure.

I am sorry to have to tell you -

But I am resigning from this year’s Nanowrimo project.

It kills me to have to do it when I was almost halfway to 50k, but I simply don’t have the time to write or mentally devote as much as I want to.

Some of the obstacles are exciting ones, some not so, but it’s my only option - I will no doubt kick myself repeatedly for doing so in the coming weeks.

I just wanted to thank you all, oldest and newest friends alike for the support, feedback and encouragement you gave me as I attempted such a huge task, even if I did not succeed. It will not be forgotten, I can assure you.

A little dramatic and extreme for what is essentially a simple piece of news about an amateur story being canned?

Perhaps, but if that’s your view then the chances are you’ve absolutely no clue as to what writing means to me.

That’s todays word count hit!

Actually i’m about 100 over, so if i can keep that up for another 16 days it will make up for the fact that I missed yesterday!

Now I am off out to a farewell meal for a friend who’s leaving the country for a year!

When I get home I will put up a chapter from my Nano novel for anyone who’s interested in reading it and I welcome any feedback…

Even if you want to absolutely slate it, haha!

I had a lot of fun talking to friends on Skype this afternoon while I was shut in my garage!

They made it an entertaining couple of hours. :)
