God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called!

Unashamedly in love with my Lord and Saviour.
Living life by loving others.

Passions and things that make this man include:
ministering to the young hearts of the world,
watching films,
submerging myself in the wonder of music both through listening and composition,
photography,
tattoos,
acting and theatre,
coffee,
adventures,
wildlife,
space and astronomy,
writing in many forms,
and exploring the beauty of the world around us.

If by this point you think we're on the verge of becoming new friends, feel free to inform me of this rather wonderful realisation...

Ask anything or drop in a prayer request too! I'd love to pray with/for you!
Be blessed. :D

Evening you lovely beings -

So, I intend to explain the reason behind my last post (the one about how God has provided in big big ways), but, being one to try and make things interesting, I am going to ask for a set of criteria that I must fulfill within said post. :)

So, for the post I need you kind and fun folks to give me:

  • A word limit (be sensible - I can’t explain the events fully with a limit of 15 words!)
  • 5 random words of your choosing that I have to incorporate somehow into my writing (one word per person!)
  • 3 colours (1 per person)
  • A song title
  • and 2 things you think are true about me

First answers received for each requirement will be counted!

Hooray for Friday night creative input. :)

My day in Wales.

If you saw my early morning post, you’ll know that I spent today in Wales.

We went as part of a ‘recon’ mission as it were; you see, we’re taking our Youth away for 5 days over summer, and we wanted to check the place out, as well as the surrounding area!

My day got off to an eventful start. Having not been to bed at all (I spent the entire night Skyping with a very precious person), I was picked up just after 7am, and was treated to a McDonalds breakfast - Double Sausage & Egg McMuffin meal with a coffee. Standard.

I slept a small amount of the way there, and wrote poetry (which I may share…?) for the other part!

The site we’re staying at is awesome; A 168-acre farm site (partially still functioning) with all the buildings, save a few, converted for public use. There’s a whole host of facilities to keep our folks entertained, right out in the countryside away from the drone of the city streets.

My favourite aspect was this open-air amphitheatre space tucked away in one of the woodland areas - it has mains power sockets, so one evening we might film a worship set…like an outdoor version of the Bethel Loft Sessions, with a lower average age. :D

After seeing what the site had to offer, we headed to Barry Island, famed for being a location featured in the popular UK TV comedy ‘Gavin & Stacy’. I was never a fan of the show itself but I’ll tell you this much; Royal Cafe do superb food! Pie, chips & gravy, cheap as you like, and cooked to perfection….mmmmmmm-mm.

Lastly, before heading home, we stopped at a Heritage Site, with a museum dedicated to the history of Welsh culture. It even has an area preserved and set out like a typical old-school village, with houses, General Supply Store, Post Office, a mill, and church to name a few.

We thought it would be fun to pretend we were hosting various shows as we went around, much to the other visitors amusement. :)

Our best spoof was of Location, Location, Location; a show where people who are tired of their habitat up sticks and move, with the help of the presenters who provide 4 possible options for the change. It was rather humourous walking around the interior of a thatched cottage, talking about it as though we had every intention of moving in….oh, the looks we got; especially when I looked up and said it would be ‘like living inside a giant picnic basket’!

:’)

We made time to visit the church building, and I stepped up into the pulpit and started preaching about how God loved the village - that cracked a few smiles…a few random folks even stopped to listen, unsure as to whether I was a part of the immersive experience, haha…

I bought some tasty Sour Apple Cube sweets too - they’re om-nom to the nth degree.

Having ruined an otherwise peaceful experience for those around us, we set off for home, and I slept the best part of the way back! Someone bought me a Creme Egg at a service station, but I’m so hot (by which I mean warm) that it melted in my hands, so I woke up to find myself holding a squidgy (but still wrapped) mess…the thought was kind, though.

I’m really looking forward to the holiday at the end of July, our Youth will enjoy it, and it just reminds me of what a wonderfully rewarding calling it is to be working with the upcoming leaders of the church!

God is GREAT! :D

…Now I just sit here in wait, writing a playscript for the Childrens Easter Celebration, and waiting for a certain someone to get back from the cinema because I’d very much like to Skype with them again, haha. :)

Hope your weekends are all good! :)

I’m back!

I had an awesome time, and New Found Glory were superb, even better than last time in fact; full of energy, involved the crowd the whole way through and lots of fun to watch. They even threw in a few covers!

Ahhh, I do love live music.

January 31st
12:00 AM GMT

for the full collection up to now, here’s Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4.

So here it is; the final, concluding set of photos from our venture to climb Mount Snowdon, the tallest peak in Wales! It was a fantastic trip away with good friends, and great brothers in Christ. We’ve already started planning our next climb, so I’ll keep you up to date with that!

From these last few, I particularly like the light-hearted ones; the comparison of my mountains (aka Toblerone) and the Welsh ones, my laughter at the idea of choosing the train over climbing to the summit yourself, and my attempt to pinpoint the peak in the background of one picture.

The shot of the boots was to commemorate the fact we completed the journey in a time that was under what they stated it should take to complete, so we felt that was an accomplishment, considering this was our first proper climb! Yay!

All in all, a wonderful time away though, and it really allowed me to soak up the natural beauty and expert craftsmanship of Gods design in our natural world! The highlight of it all, for me?

Sitting on the peak, listening to ‘Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful’ by Jesus Culture on full volume, surveying the captivating and magical landscape surrounding me on all sides, and knowing that I have a fulfilling, exciting, loving and wonderfully intense relationship with the One responsible for creating it all.

How humbled and privileged ought we to feel, friends. :)

Thanks for all your lovely comments and kind words!

Blessings and peace be yours in Christ always,

Shaunski. :)

Guitar Club 101

No no, i’m not advertising some online course where i’ll claim you’ve won a FREE scholarship and the chance to meet single persons from ‘your area’ (if your area happens to be Area 51), all for being the 1,983,927,450th visitor to fill out a survey on the theory that sweetcorn is taking over the world, then kicking a football into a goal net guarded by a cartoon keeper with Miley Cyrus’ head.

Yeah, i’ve seen just about every stupid type of banner or pop-up going on t’interweb.

No, this entry instead marks the first day back teaching Guitar Club after school!

A chance to teach fresh minds about learning a new instrument,
overcoming challenges,
working together,

and most importantly ROCK ‘N’ ROLL

(at this point stagedive from nearest tall object.)

With performances last year including ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘The Final Countdown’, we’ve got a pretty high benchmark to reach for…good job they’re up for it. :D

Not so keen on some suggestions of covers such as; Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Alexandra Burke or JLS…even compared to one lads suggestion of learning Mariachi music!

…seriously excited for this year though, raising my own little troop of rock troubadores…

and having an assistant in the form of the lovely Miss Ellis is a bonus!

- especially as she brings me cake and coffee at the end. omnom. :)

Now; where did i put my poncho?
