God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called!

Unashamedly in love with my Lord and Saviour.
Living life by loving others.

Passions and things that make this man include:
ministering to the young hearts of the world,
watching films,
submerging myself in the wonder of music both through listening and composition,
photography,
tattoos,
acting and theatre,
coffee,
adventures,
wildlife,
space and astronomy,
writing in many forms,
and exploring the beauty of the world around us.

If by this point you think we're on the verge of becoming new friends, feel free to inform me of this rather wonderful realisation...

Ask anything or drop in a prayer request too! I'd love to pray with/for you!
Be blessed. :D

Perks of the job.

I have been asked at short notice to teach a Music and then a French lesson for a Year 5 class this afternoon.

Headteacher: You can teach the lesson on whatever you want.

*SOLD*

My favourite kind - an afternoon of French quizzes and being rockstars it is, then.

:)

My class of children have had an important and decisive week of tests this week, so I have been sure to hold them up in prayer.

Today is their last exam, and the child I have been reading/scribing has done so well considering his natural ability and progress throughout the year.

It’s a wonderful feeling, knowing that God has given me the opportunity to sow into that boy’s life at such a crucial time.

Thankyou Lord for bringing out the best in him this week…now let’s BOSS this final day of tests - Amen!!

:D

Taking an afternoon troll.

  • *asking the children to name their ideal pet while taking the afternoon register*
  • Child: A horse.
  • Teacher: What colour?
  • Me: Purple.
  • *le scowl from Teacher*
  • Child: A cute piglet.
  • Me: (loudly while rubbing stomach) *mmmm* bacon!
  • Child: A piranha!
  • Other Child: It would make the best security system, haha!
  • Me: Not if you put it on a leash and sat it outside the front door, it wouldn't.
  • Teacher: Mr Milligan!
  • Child: A wolf.
  • Me: Now THIS kid's doing it right - that's what I'm talking about!
  • HOW AM I EVEN STILL EMPLOYED.

  • Le Me talking to two girls at work: [Northern Irish accent] Oh deary me, you've gone and got your times tables aaaaall muddled up...what a pickle.
  • Girl: [laughing] Mr Milligan, why are you being...ridiculous?

If I’m honest, the way I conduct myself at work isn’t always professional…

By that I mean that I’m too busy making friends with the children and trying to invest in their (in some cases) broken lives as a role model, showing God’s love in a sector of society that is increasingly clamping down on any opportunity to do so, even within RE lessons. I have a calling from God that does not involve photocopying and scorning a child for not remembering the difference between an obtuse and acute angle.

Whoops. Does that make me a bad employee?

Sorry totally NOT sorry.

A girl in my class was getting her lunchbox and her water bottle broke, spilling the entire contents all over the floor. She promptly burst into floods of tears.

Upset children with hurty hearts gives Shaun a hurty heart.

*something must be done*

“Elizabeth, I know I said I wanted a swimming pool but you didn’t have to go and do that.”

Teary-eyed children laughing gives Shaun a happy heart.

Take that, sadness.

Is there any sort of job I could get into that centres around working with children, where the focus is pastoral rather than educational and I don’t need to have trained as a teacher?

I’m finding now that I am not fussed about showing them facts so much as I want to show them their value to God, love them and invest in their lives in a way that the rules of the education system don’t allow.

My heart is very much for this, and God knows that.

I am looking to a change of season, a change of work, and perhaps a change of scenery also…

That moment when you realise almost a quarter of the children in the entire school want to attend the Drama club you’re running…

Oh my heart.

My first afternoon officially teaching French…eep.
It’s a wonderful privilege and opportunity, but I don’t want to do a bad job, mainly for the children’s sake!
Wish me luck and keep me in your prayers! :)

Oh, I also have the dress rehearsal for my show after work, which I am also a little nervous about, so once again; prayers much appreciated!

Thanks, lovelies. Hope your Monday is a stunner. :)
