God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called!

Unashamedly in love with my Lord and Saviour.
Living life by loving others.

Passions and things that make this man include:
ministering to the young hearts of the world,
watching films,
submerging myself in the wonder of music both through listening and composition,
photography,
tattoos,
acting and theatre,
coffee,
adventures,
wildlife,
space and astronomy,
writing in many forms,
and exploring the beauty of the world around us.

If by this point you think we're on the verge of becoming new friends, feel free to inform me of this rather wonderful realisation...

Ask anything or drop in a prayer request too! I'd love to pray with/for you!
Be blessed. :D

Hey so, um, I kind of need a volunteer (or several) to give a listen and feedback to some little (honestly like a minute each) snippets of musical ideas & riffs i’ve created.

If you’re into hardcore/metal/djent, that is preferable as that’s the kinda vibe I have going. Not to exclude anyone else of course, but I figure fans of that style of sound will give me more detailed feedback, plus they’re the pickiest ears to reach - so for this one I’m afraid it’s out with Mumford and in with metalcore.

Inbox me.

I asked Tara what I should write a song about.

…as a result, I am currently penning a tune about her…and elephants - go figure.

Any other requests?

I’m going home to write some djenty stuff a la Periphery and others…groove metal as it were.

Anybody want to volunteer to give me feedback in return for sending them a recording/excerpt of what I come out with?

Nothing like blasting out a jam session on a Saturday morning.

This will be considered by most, a relatively uninteresting post.

…mainly because it’s not theologically ground-breaking or a hilarious anecdote about some fandom and shipping characters. Sorry not sorry.

You know, I don’t know what has been fuelling my creativity, but I have made 34 separate music recordings in the space of 12 hours…

Now just to work out what I’m doing with them all haha.

So many ideas…but they kind of buck the trend of taste most people have now with all this indie-folk-soothing-melody-stuff that’s skyrocketing; don’t get me wrong I like some of it but I enjoy my NOISE - my current writing is more in the vein of Periphery and Intervals…So now more than ever these tunes are more for my personal enjoyment. I’m loving getting to experiment with an odd tuning setup though!

I couuuuuld sit and work on 34 those clips…but I think I’ll keep jamming (EDIT - I have already recorded 2 more…Whoops).

So that’s my Saturday morning in a nutshell - I’ll be with Farrah, and if you wish to talk you know where to find me!

This has been what most will consider an uninteresting post.

Quality time with Farrah - treating her like a true djentleman should.

Today has been a good day…

I recorded another impromptu and improvised song.

This one is rather Ben Howard-esque…

and may or may not have singing on it.

8 collective hours of (some) recording, (but mostly) editing and refining…and the first mix of my track is done!
Yay!

No harm in dressing smart while I make music - shirt and tie, rhythm and melody, all combined…

I respect the power of music, see.

Work is over - Home to change and then it’s music tiiiime!

Recording,
editing,
tweaking,
exporting,
maybe sharing?

…Who knows.

All I know is i’m stoked to shut myself away in the drawing darkness and lose myself in the maelstrom of creativity and dynamics.

On my mind -

Some wonderful people whom I constantly wish I knew better but doubt I even cross their minds.

Made it through Act 1 (more than half the play) tonight without my script…not bad considering I was given the lines a week ago…I was pleased.

Love the 7-minute impromptu chilled tune I wrote and recorded earlier today. Might even think about sharing the finished product with you folks!

Just heard someone who has always struggled with foul language opt to use ‘flipping’ in place of the alternative, showing self-restraint…glad for them and definite progress.

Taking our class to the cinema tomorrow but I may still have to teach French…hmmm.

It’s been forever since I Skyped.

Oh yeah…almost Christmas….and my birthday - yay!

Today’s jumbled thoughts were brought to you by happiness, coffee, the impending week and a desire to ramble.

:)

This afternoon I should have been running lines (notice the ‘should’?), but instead I chose to pick up my guitar, hit record and just play…i’m pretty happy with the results!

Pitch-black productivity.

Sitting in the darkness,
guitar in hand
hitting record,
and just playing what you feel.

It produces songs that no team of writers in an office with donuts & coffee could ever replicate.

It honestly has to be experienced to be truly appreciated.
I can say this because i’ve just done that -

four and a half minutes,
minimal,
pure and wordless.

I love it.

I have posted nothing on Instagram all day (a first?) and now I am laying on my bed writing songs in the dark.

It’s bliss, I tell you.
